Anthony Veder is set to officially inaugurate its combined LNG/LPG/Ethylene carrier, the Coral Methane in mid April.
Due to be launched at Remontowa yard, the 7,500 cbm vessel also takes the Rotterdam-based shipping company into the LNG sector.
This unique vessel has specifically been designed for regional distribution and when it is not transporting LNG it can be used to transport other gases such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and petrochemical gases, including ethylene.
Anthony Veder was originally asked to build a small LNG carrier on behalf of Norwegian LNG distributor Gasnor in 2006.
Managing director of Anthony Veder, Jan Valkier, commented: "Anthony Veder won the tender because it offered an innovative concept and the idea to build a combined LNG/LPG/Ethylene carrier. This concept meant that a larger vessel could be built, allowing the customer to 'grow into the vessel' as their LNG trade increases over the years to come."
The LNG will be transported at minus 163 degrees centigrade and the vessel is very environmentally-friendly because it will use the LNG as fuel, significantly decreasing emissions.
